FAQs for Wedding Professionals and Aspiring Wedding Professionals
We regularly receive a significant amount of inquires from wedding professionals (and aspiring wedding professionals). These inquiries are generally regarding one of several popular topics. For efficiency purposes, we developed this page of our web site to post
our responses to frequently asked questions by wedding professionals. Please review this section carefully before you contact us because
the answer to your question may be listed below.
I am starting my own Wedding Consulting company; may I meet with someone at Watermark Weddings to “pick their brain”?
The wedding industry is a very fun and exciting industry to be in, but it also is very demanding and requires a lot of commitment and long hours. In an effort to meet the arduous demands of our clients and maintain our commitment to them, we are unable to accommodate the overwhelming volume of requests that we receive from aspiring wedding consultants who wish to meet with us in a one-on-one setting.
However, many years ago we developed and implemented an internship program in order to give some of those aspiring wedding consultants an opportunity to spend several months observing both the day-to-day operations of our firm as well as the coordination of our clients’ wedding days. Additionally, we offer weddings planning seminars that you are welcome
to attend. To read more about our seminars, click here.
I’m starting my own Wedding Consulting company; I plan to put together wedding planning packages and develop a web site for my company. May I “model” my company after yours and copy all of your wedding planning package and web site verbiage?
Absolutely not. Everything on our web site is copyrighted and therefore may not be legally copied or paraphrased by anyone else. Some time ago it became necessary for Watermark Weddings to retain the services of an intellectual property attorney with the law firm of Troutman Saunders. This became necessary after several competitors committed copyright infringement by extracting and paraphrasing portions of the Watermark Weddings copyrighted web site. We have already taken legal action against several copyright infringers and will continue to take legal action against any new copyright infringers. Be original – your new company should be a reflection of your original ideas and personality – not those of Watermark Weddings.
Would you please start referring me (I need more business)?
We take our vendor referrals very seriously and consider those who we refer to be a reflection of us. Since we have this approach to referring vendors, it is impossible for us to refer strangers. We only refer vendors with whom we have developed a solid working relationship; we know and absolutely trust all of the vendors we refer. In order for us to begin referring you, you must develop a relationship with us while working together at weddings and demonstrating to us that you are talented, responsive, cooperative, a team-player, pleasant and professional.
Would you please add a link on your web site to my web site?
As you have probably noticed we do not have a large number of links on our web site, which was a very deliberate decision. The reason for this is because we only have links to those vendors with whom we have developed a solid working relationship; we know and absolutely trust all of the vendors linked on our web site. While we understand that it is better for "internet ranking" purposes to have more vendors on our links page (because that would most likely increase the number of places our web address appears), it is inconsistent with our philosophy and the way we do business. The way to get a link on our web page is to develop a relationship with us while working together at weddings and demonstrating to us that you are talented, responsive, cooperative, a team-player, pleasant and professional.
I’m a photographer/videographer/invitation creator/pastry chef/caterer/etc. May I set-up an appointment to meet with you to show you my work?
In an effort to meet the arduous demands of our clients and maintain our commitment to them, we are unable to accommodate the overwhelming volume of requests that we receive from fellow wedding professionals who wish to meet with us in a one-on-one setting. Should you like to meet with one of our wedding consultants, we recommend that you catch us at a monthly meeting of one of the professional wedding organizations we belong to. We regularly attend
NACE meetings and many industry
functions.
